Alternate Homepage for Offline Use

Supported in:

Kiosk Pro Basic, Plus and Enterprise

Display alternate content that is stored locally on the device when internet connection is lost, instead of the default "No Internet Connection" error screen.

Default: (blank)

When an Alternate Homepage is set, you can run specific content (either remote or local) as your primary Homepage while you have an internet connection, then switch to a different set of local content if the device is disconnected from the internet. When the internet connection is restored, the app will automatically reload your primary Homepage.

This alternate homepage can be an HTML page, a PDF, or an image file. Whatever you choose to display will need to be stored locally on the iPad. Instructions for transferring content to the iPad are available here.

If Kiosk Pro is not able to find the local file (i.e. the file is missing, the filename has a typo, etc.) and there is no internet connection, Kiosk Pro will display the default "No Internet Connection" error.

Example of when to use this setting

As an example, let’s say you have a sign-up form hosted on your website and want visitors to still be able to sign up if connection is lost. To do this:

  1. Create an HTML page with a sign-up form that will save form data locally to your iPad using the JavaScript API.
  2. Upload your local content to the Kiosk Pro documents folder.
  3. Set 'Alternate Homepage for Offline Use' to the local HTML page (signup.html, for example).
