Remote Management & Notifications Overview
There are several options for remote control and monitoring of Kiosk Pro that can be mixed and matched as needed.
Features built into Kiosk Pro
Paid versions of Kiosk Pro have certain remote management options built right in. If using the Basic version or above, you can update your app settings remotely using an .xml file hosted remotely on your own servers.
The Plus & Enterprise versions of Kiosk Pro allow you to remotely update files stored locally on the device, either by connecting to an .xml file and .zip hosted on your server or by syncing with a Dropbox account.
Using the Remote Management Server
The Remote Management Server allows you to fully monitor and administer your iPad kiosks in the field through a simple web-based interface. This interface allows you to monitor the device through regular heartbeats and event logs, upload new content or settings to Kiosk Pro, and report kiosk usage by session length and navigation history.
The Remote Management Server is compatible with the Plus & Enterprise versions and requires a separate annual subscription for each device. More information is available here.
Using Mobile Device Management (MDM)
Mobile device management (MDM) is software used to monitor, manage and secure mobile devices. MDM can be used to remotely install, update and manage apps, to update the iOS operating system, to lock the device into Single App Mode, to remotely restart the device in case of problems, to set certain types of restrictions on device use, to configure specific device-level settings (like WiFi network), and to wipe the device if it is lost or stolen. Some of this functionality requires that the device be supervised. More information is available here.
The Plus and Enterprise versions support Managed App Configuration, which allows you to configure app settings remotely through the MDM interface. This can allow you to remotely install and configure an app without any on-site interaction.
