Idle Time Limit
Supported In:
Refresh the presentation when the kiosk is inactive. When a visitor touches the screen, Kiosk Pro starts a timer. If the screen has not been touched again in the set period of time, Kiosk Pro refreshes back to the Homepage (or restarts the Screensaver if configured), resetting the kiosk to the starting point for the next visitor.
Default: 30
Unit of Measurement: seconds
Depending on your content, we generally recommend using a timer of 30 to 60 seconds. For testing, use a shorter time to minimize how long you have to wait for a refresh. If the Idle Time Limit field is left empty or with a value of '0', Kiosk Pro will not set an Idle Time Limit.
In Basic, Plus and Enterprise, the Idle Time Limit can be used in conjunction with the Memory & Privacy settings to clear logins or private data entered when the device resets.
Advanced Functionality with JavaScript API
In some situations, you may want to disable the Idle Time Limit on a page. For example, if you are showing a video and do not want the kiosk to refresh while the video is playing. Using our JavaScript API in the Basic, Plus and Enterprise versions, you can choose to skip the refresh when the Idle Time Limit is reached.
The JavaScript API also allows you to trigger the Idle Time Limit immediately (and, if you have a Screensaver set, launch the screensaver).
Documentation and sample code demonstrating these calls is available here.
